Stop Whining - Age is a Just Number!

This year I turned thirty-four. By any standard, thirty-four is a rather unremarkable year. There's no "On Your 34th Birthday" greeting card from Hallmark. My insurance rates stay depressingly the same. I can already drink, drive, and vote (not at the same time, of course!) However, in my own slightly confused mind, one big change did happen: I made the official move from "early thirties" to "mid-thirties." I remember feeling the same way when I moved from twenty-three to twenty-four (early-twenties to mid-twenties), though not so much from thirteen to fourteen - I was probably too focused on puberty at that point...

Right now you are probably thinking, "oh no, are you really going to complain about feeling old at only thirty-four? Stop whining, you loser!"

And you would in fact be correct. Age is just a number, a number that many people use as an excuse. Take my parents for instance. They may be two of the most computer illiterate people I know. The most dreaded voicemail I can receive is one of my parents saying, "call home, I want to ask you something." 99% of the time it will be a computer question that I will in no way be able to answer to their satisfaction. My mom can somehow rig up a DVR, satellite dish, four TVs, and a VCR (yes, she uses a DVR and VCR) to simultaneously record two shows while watching two others, but she would not even be able to turn on the computer. My dad bought a laptop one year ago that still only comes out of its case - not a "real" laptop case, by the way, but rather a forty year old hard top old-school briefcase - when I go home to visit. Every time I try to get them to learn, they say, "oh, we're too old now."

Poppycock I say! I have had too many recent experiences that show me that age really is a state of mind:

  • I have been doing improv comedy with an "intergenerational improv comedy troupe." Members range in age from fourteen to eighty-five, and some of the strongest performers are over eighty. Eighty! One performer is eighty-four and leads ten mile walking tours of Philadelphia! I'm thirty-four and I hop in my car to avoid a ten block walk. I am so lame...

  • I attended a martial arts seminar with three different Grandmasters. Usually when one of the Uber-Masters is teaching the other two hang out, observe, and occasionally make jokes (seriously - it's like karate comedy). On this particular day one of these Grandmasters was having us practice a technique, and I look over and see one of the other Grandmasters practicing right there with the rest of us. This is a man who at the time was over eighty, is a legend in the martial arts, pioneered his own fighting style, and is happy to sit there with the rest of us wannabes learning something new. It's kind of like seeing a middle-aged person with braces. Initially it seems kind of odd, but then you think, "hey, here's a person doing something good for themselves - that's pretty awesome."

  • I just saw the rock band, Genesis, in concert. These guys haven't performed together in about fifteen years, and wow - they've still got it! If you only know Phil Collins from his schmaltzy adult contemporary and Disney soundtrack work, you don't know what you are missing. Two and a half hours without a break playing with incredible energy. Here's the thing - these guys could be considered old men now. Phil looked like death decided to take a holiday and tour the world singing "Invisible Touch." But he was bouncing around the stage, playing with the crowd, and rocking out on the drums. I will never complain about "feeling tired" before a speech again...

It really is a matter of perspective. No matter how old you are, you can use age as an excuse for something. Too old to try something new, too young to be taken seriously, not old enough or young enough to have anything to complain about, etc.

For me, things have happened that could bring me down. Since I turned 30, I have:

  • Gained ten pounds. This, while I was trying to *lose* weight. I'm no nutritionist or personal trainer, but I don't think that's how weight loss is supposed to work.

  • Thrown out my back. Twice. Both times while exercising in the gym. It seems ironic that the only time I have been to the doctor in the last four years has been as a direct result of exercising. Maybe that's a sign that I should stop working out.

  • Realized that when a friend asks, "do you want to go out and grab a couple of drinks?" what he is really asking is "do you want to wake up tomorrow morning feeling tired, unproductive, and dehydrated?"

  • Actually considered buying an ear and nose hair trimmer. I haven't bought one yet because I would be way too self-conscious that the person behind the counter would be staring at my ears and nose. I can think of few things more humiliating than the person behind the counter giving you a look that says, "good idea on chopping down the forest, ace." I suppose that's what the internet is for.

But it's all perspective though, right? I can reframe all of the things above:

  • Sure, I gained ten pounds, but it could be worse. It could have been twenty. At least I'm eating. And eating well, evidently.

  • I threw out my back and felt sorry for myself. Then I found out a friend was diagnosed with a brain tumor. That gives you perspective real fast. Now I could try to make a compelling argument about how hard life is when you can't stand up straight, but I think, "I have a potentially malignant growth in the frontal temporal lobe of my brain," trumps that. Fortunately, she is fine now and doing great. As an added bonus, she stands up straight all the time, I can only assume just to rub it in my face.

  • At least I still have friends. And, I suppose I could switch to drinking Shirley Temples (but then the grenadine would contribute to that whole weight gain thing).

  • I may have hair in my nose and ears, but at least I also have hair on my head. Small price to pay for avoiding baldness. Although I did just read and article that claims that bald men have higher levels of testosterone, which is why some women are attracted to bald men. That would explain the appeal of Patrick Stewart and Sean Connery.

The point here is that age, and any excuse really, is just a matter of perspective. For me, I am going to stop whining about feeling old and start enjoying where I am and take inspiration from the more experienced, more open-minded, and even more energetic people around me. I encourage you to do the same with whatever excuse you are currently using too!

Is Your Vagina the Normal Size? Ways to Tighten a Loose Slack Vagina

Is there a way of telling whether the vagina is either too big or small? What needs to established first is, what is seen as normal. Without knowledge on normality how can one tell if the vagina is of natural size? Vaginal size is not a hot topic among women unless faced with a problem that entails this issue to be addressed.

The vaginal wall is stretchy so exact size can never really be determined. Some women believe a tighter vagina brings more pleasure when having sexual intercourse. There is a hint of truth in this because it means more pressure and friction. Nevertheless it can also cause discomfort for male and female. If the vagina is relaxed the vaginal walls collapse into each other. The diameter is less than one inch and the length will be around 3 to 4 inches. Size changes when ready for intercourse. At this time the diameter of the vagina is not the same throughout the vaginal tunnel.

The narrowest part is the opening of vagina and wider as it goes in deeper. As a rule the front part of vagina has a size of one and a half inches. The deeper into the vagina you go the bigger the diameter. The back end of vagina usually has a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. The front vagina wall has the length of 2 inches and the back end is 3 - so totaling about 6 inches. Giving birth can stretch the vagina because of intense expansion. if you are looking for a way to tighten the vagina, then Kegel exercises are very effective. You know your body better than anyone else and will know if something doesn't feel right. If your worries involve having a big or small vagina, then talk to your GP.

Women as young as in their early twenties and in their teens can suffer from this problem where their vaginas loosen and feel big. This normally occurs due to poor sexual health, childbirth, and other factors. Concerns about vaginal and vulva size is a regular issue, so no need to be embarrassed.

If you have never given birth it's almost unlikely that the vagina or vulva is too big. Never believe in all you hear i.e. having plentiful sex causes the vagina to become big, "poppycock." No matter how much sex you have it won't affect you're vaginal or vulva size, "childbirth" yes because it can affect dimensions, meaning, damaged muscles and other supporting tissues of the vaginal walls. You can prevent widening of the vagina doing postnatal exercises that physiotherapists teach. Never take up exercise unless advised by your doctor that is safe to do so. Although exercises are good for keeping the body in shape and healthy, - they may not be ideal if a particular condition a patient suffers, is a under threat, where additionally adds to their suffering.

If your vaginal 'barrel' is excessively big, leaving the vagina to appear 'loose', this can have the following effects: Intercourse less pleasing. Possibility of air getting into (and out of) the vagina - referred to in some parts of the country as fanny farting. On a more serious note, lax muscles and ligaments can lead to a prolapsed womb.

Things you can to do to help tighten a loose vagina?

Pelvic floor muscle exercises are one most favored option among women.

Tighten the muscles at the front of the lower part of your body - as if trying to stop yourself urinating , hold this contraction for 10 seconds then relax - repeat and keep up for 5 minutes. Do these 4 times daily. If at any time you feel pain stop immediately.

Due to technology we have many gadgets on the market, and one for helping with this issue is the
vaginal muscle developer, unfortunately quite expensive if you don`t have money in the bank (£75 to £200) - and you do have to work at them for a long period before seeing results. Another option is to speak to a gynecologist to discuss the possibility of a 'repair' operation. This draws the weakened pelvic tissues together and firms everything up. Remember as with any type of surgery there are also the risks.

Women tend to cause themselves unnecessary worry over having a big vagina when there are many things that can be done to heal. Although sound advice, women still desperately worry about vulva appearance i.e. too large or the labia too long, or that bits of it protrude unequally. If you are one of these women then talk to your doctor - who will be able to reassure you that you are in fact normal and have nothing to worry about?

In contrast we have women who believe their vagina too small. Statistically this is most unlikely. The symptoms that could show unusually smallness: is

Painful intercourse
Not able to have sex
Problem with tampon insertion

After an examination has been given for the above mentioned symptoms, women find much to their amazement that their vagina is of normal-size. Cause for this confusion is nearly always connected to a condition called vaginismus. It is a regular condition that makes the vaginal muscles contract when intent to make contact with the genitals is made. You may be given an internal examination to make definite prognosis.
Vaginismus

Symptoms of vaginismus come varied and can include:

Unintentional uncontrolled spasms of the muscles in the vagina

fear of pain

Panic in connection to penetration

Loss of sexual desire if penetration is attempted

Pain when inserting a tampon, finger or penis

The frightening thing about this condition is, the woman can do nothing to stop it because the symptoms are entirely involuntary. Whereas a big or small vagina is a problem we have control over.

Academy Awards Not Handed Out

Well, the Academy Awards were handed out on February 24th and what a night it was. Unfortunately, I didn't win the award for best screenplay category. (It has been brought to my attention that it is necessary to actually write a screenplay in order to be considered for the award.) Semantics.

Therefore, it is time, once again, to announce the winners of some of the categories that did not receive the pomp and circumstance the more major awards received.

Since we couldn't get Jon Stewart to emcee our ceremonies, I will take over the traditional hosting duties. First, my monologue:

Good evening ladies and gentlemen of the motion picture industry of whom I have enormous respect. (This is what is known in show business as "sucking up.") What a time I had getting here tonight. It's not like I'm in awe of the stars that I'll be rubbing elbows with tonight, but as it got DeNiro the time to come here, I hopped in my Mercedes McCambridge and drove over the River Phoenix. I was Tom Cruising along, when all of a sudden, I found myself in a Chevy Chase. Just when I thought I couldn't take Demi Moore, I stubbed my toe on a Chris Rock and experienced extreme Allen Payne. Believe me, it is not my intention to Jody Foster this situation, so let's get ourselves into Richard Gere, before they lock me up in a Nicholas Cage. (laughter, applause.)

Our first category is the best picture about Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale. And the winner is "No Country For Old Men."

Next, is the best picture about the capital of Alaska. And the winner is, "Juno." (Oh, come on, someone was going to do it, eventually.)

And now it gives me extreme pleasure to present this year's Lifetime Achievement Award. This year it goes to a gentleman who has been in the movies for over seventy years. He's been in over 500 films, but has never starred in any of them. He's never even gotten so much as a close-up. This year's Lifetime Achievement Award goes to ninety year old, veteran stuntman, "Pops" Flanagan.

(The camera pans upward to a catwalk over the stage and I fire three blanks from a "prop" gun. "Pops" falls forward and lands on a breakaway craps table. He gets up and walks over to the podium.)

POPS: Well, I've been in the business since the 1920's. Before talkies. They coulda had talkies back then, but the directors didn't want you to hear them sissy-boy stuntmen they had back then cry like a little girl when they fell off a horse or somethin'. What a bunch of panty-wastes. Heck, I've been falling off buildings, set on fire, and punched in the face more times than you can shake a stick at. You know all them falls Peter Sellers did in them Pink Panther movies? That was me. You know all that garbage Burt Reynolds used to hand out about him doin' his own stunts? Poppycock! That was me. The only stunts Reynolds ever did was fall in bed with beautiful women. You think he'd ever ask me to do any of those stunts for him? The wuss. Well, thanks for the award, even though I deserve more. (Applause as "Pops" exits.)

Thanks, Pops, nice attitude. And, finally, our last award for the evening. The award for the best movie about a dental technician, just before cleaning a patient's teeth. And the winner is, "There Will Be Blood."

Well, we succeeded in running six hours over. I guess it's time to say good night. So, until next year, remember, "We'll see you at the movies, right after you've taken out a loan to pay for the tickets." (Applause) Fade Out.

Central Bankers Are Lending Freely

Company default rates will undoubtedly rise somewhere along the 300% lines anticipated by Economy's chief economist Mark Zandi. Risk of Default is simply part of the capitalist processes of "creative destruction." The only way to avert the rising default rates would be for the Fed and other central bankers to orchestrate a "bailout" for all the over-levered players in the game involved in excessive risk taking.

Even if the Fed and other central bankers could successfully pull off another bailout strategy, the Fed and their central banker counterparts at the ECB and BOE are striving diligently to avoid the moral hazards that would come with the requisite aggressive easing.

On that note, however, it was interesting to find the Bank of England Governor Mervyn King charging this morning that his central bank counterparts in the US and Europe are right now entertaining those very moral hazards which would threaten to sow "the seeds of a future financial crisis." This was "pure poppycock" from Mr. King to coin an old English phrase. Each of the three central bankers are lending freely but not excessively - to manage the present financial crisis.

Notwithstanding the BOE's allegations today, each central bank appears to be deploying slightly different monetary tools to abate the liquidity risks in the unregulated "shadow banking system." However, they can not be said to be attempting to abate default risks inherent in the financial system. While the Federal Reserve, ECB and the BOE have all pumped unusually high amounts of liquidity into the financial system to reduce the unusually high overnight rates since the crisis began to evolve on August 9th, their actions and words can be viewed as carefully attempting to avoid the "moral hazards" of excessive risk taking that aggressive rate cuts lead to.

On August 17th, the Federal Reserve took the unusual step of cutting the discount rate 50 bps. However, the efficacy of that particular monetary tool will not have the impact that it once had in years past when the Fed funds rate and the discount rate window could be used almost interchangeably.

A month ago, the Fed's discount window rate was a full 100 bps above the Fed funds rate on August 17th when they cut it to 5.75% from 6.25%. Today, it is still 50 bps over the 5.25% rate, and today, the discount rate is largely considered only a penalty rate today (see Pimco McCauley's Teton Reflections for further explanation.).

Why would anyone access the rate at discount window and pay a penalty rate if they didn't have to? You wouldn't, thus the only explicable reason the discount window would be tapped is for window dressing purposes. By cutting the discount 'penalty' rate only, the Fed sidestepped the inherent moral hazards that would potentially sow "the seeds of a future financial crisis."

Meanwhile the ECB has pumped more billions of dollars into the financial system than any other central banker to date - $352 billion so far, but they have exercised restraint on cutting the refi rate by leaving it unchanged at 4% at their September 6 meeting. At that same meeting, the ECB still viewed their monetary policy as "still on the accommodative side." For that very same reason, ECB president Trichet told the European Parliament on Sept 11 that "risks to price stability remain on the upside" and that the ECB's main goal was to deliver price stability with financial stability being a secondary goal. Blurring those two distinctly different goals he said would "deteriorate the present situation of the market." In other words, bailouts of companies at risk of default is a secondary consideration. There is no moral hazard being ventured by the ECB president in these statements.

Turning to the Bank of England (BOE), they have had much to say this September about the financial turmoil as they began injecting cash into the markets to reduce pressure on the overnight rates on Sept 5 and Sept 11. ``These measures are not intended, nor can be expected, to narrow the spreads between anticipated policy rates and the 3 month interbank rate." Again, we have here another instance of a major central bank seeking to avoid the moral hazards of bailing out companies at risk of default.

However, just two days later on Sept 13th, the BOE did reduce the reserve requirements obstensibly to encourage financial institutions "to lend more money to each other" as the BOE "tries to reduce overnight borrowing costs." If anything action to date amongst the these three major central banks were to attempt a bailout which would subsequently encourage the excessive risk taking that put us here in the first place, it would be this action taken by the BOE today to reduce both the overnight rates and the reserve requirements.

Perhaps, methinks, that the BOE should revisit Walter Bagehot's "Lombard Street" on financial crisis management. Bagehot's model for handling financial panics (which are constantly present in markets anyways) is as straightforward as it is simple. To end financial panics without entertaining moral hazards, authorities must lend freely, but must do so at higher interest rates.

Bagehot's prescription for managing financial crises is an aside. Returning to what the Federal Reserve has been doing in recent days has been even more intriguing.

On top of some recent hawkish overtones, the Federal Reserve has been busy for the past several days employing their Marcoeconomic and Quantitative analysts (dubbed MAQS) to study a "series of what-if scenarios on the US economy." These scenarios a.k.a. "alt sims" or alternative simulations will influence the decision making process at next weeks FOMC meeting to determine the size and quantity of Fed funds rate cuts which will ultimately be required. These 'alt sims" will be "adjusting for such things as higher financing rates...or a sharp decline in home prices" to catch a glimpse of possible future outcomes by leaving rates unchanged or relatively unchanged.

Fed officials under the Bernanke Fed now feel in hindsight that Greenspan's third rate cuts in 1998 as well as the aggressive easing in 2001-2003 were a bit excessive and that "the Fed overpaid for risks that the turned out to be less severe."

San Francisco President Janet Yellen noted "a good example is the aftermath of the Russian debt default in 1998. Many forecasters predicted a sharp economic slowdown as a result but growth turned out to be robust." The third cut in November 1998 occurred when GDP growth in Q4 1998 came in at 6.2%. Former Fed Vice Chairman Alice Rivlin echoing Janet Yellen's concerns that the 3rd rate cut in Nov 1998 might have been a mistake observed that "It might have been smarter to try what they trying" now with their use of the alternative simulation models.

In sum, we find the three major central bankers willing to lend freely and to purchase some insurance for the liquidity risks that remain out there. But none of them want to "overpay" for those risks. In fact, the Fed's Quant analysts are actively seeking just the right temperature for their porridge - not too hot, not too cold, but just right. None of them are willing to entertain the moral hazards that come with excessive easing, and none of them willing to jeopardize their price stability goals which for the ECB clearly trump their financial stability goals.

And so, it appears the major central banks have indeed learned something from LTCM bailout and the aggressive easing of 2001-2003 and are thus motivated to profit from those lessons and now apply them to the current financial turmoil. Bagehot's prescription 135 years later has been modified to "lend freely, but at the right strike price" - not so cheaply that it leads to a bail out of all the over-levered players in the game.

3 Keys to Happiness

Most of us are content with our lives or often we feel we are "too busy" to really think about our own contentment or happiness. That's for tomorrow or if I get a raise, promotion, the guy, the girl, the right house, paycheck, kids and so on.

We all have examples of people who are less economically fortunate, physical ailments (maybe even major), who have very significant roadblocks in their lives and who are clearly happy people. We admire them and frankly are dumbfounded by them. The fact is that these people understand either consciously or intuitively that happiness is fully under each person's control and within everyone's reach no matter each person's circumstances.

The 3 Keys of Happiness are -

  • Direction

  • Society

  • Purpose

Many people that are happy may not have all 3 Keys. And that's ok. As long as there is true contentment/happiness and not some "hole" in their lives.

Let's talk about each of the 3 keys.

The first key is direction. We often talk about direction when we discuss goals and goal achievement. But the fact is we don't need to achieve that goal to gain that happiness, being on the path, having that direction, knowing where we are going will give us the excitement, pleasure and happiness we desire. It's because we can see the progress or improvement in our lives. Our lives aren't static (or in a rut) it's moving in a direction that we desire and control.

Let me give you an example from my own life.

A bunch of years ago, I was in a major rut. I was exceedingly unhappy in my job and even worse, I felt trapped. I was making good money and my perception was that I wouldn't be able to get the same salary anywhere else. My financially situation was that I was pretty much spending it as it came in. Trapped.

So I decided to start saving some money. The idea was to slowly build up some change in the bank, so that I would have the power to walk into my bosses office and quit (I had quite a melodramatic scenario in my mind!) if I chose to without fear of the economic consequences.
Since I WAS spending everything that I was making, I started out small 50 bucks a month. It would build as I moved forward.

About 6 months later, with a whopping 300 dollars in savings, I decided work wasn't so bad, things were looking up and I realized my attitude was just better. I'm sure everybody else saw it before I did, and relieved to see it!

Come on! With 300 bucks in the bank! It took me a while, but I realized that I had created a direction in my life and no longer felt trapped, even though it would take years to create the nest egg that I needed to make it happen.

We see this all the time. People in poor circumstances going back to school, seriously handicapped people using their therapy all creating a direction in their lives.

The second key is society. Not society as we know it, but each of our own society. Whether it's family, friends, extended family, church/school groups or other associations. Whatever works for each of us. It may fluctuate, loose someone that was part of your society and what happens, we are sad and unhappy. We see couples who are perfectly happy with just the two of them and nobody else. We see the mother or father who are happiest when their lives are surrounded by their children. Our society could be quite large or very small. It answers a need each of us has to be loved, liked, appreciated, joked with, taken seriously, respected, teased....belong. The famous line in a movie with Tom Cruise looking at the woman he realizes makes him quite happy is "You complete me." And when we have a society that will "complete us", we are more likely to have happiness in abundance!

The third key is purpose. There are a lot of books out there that make it clear purpose is payback time. That purpose is doing good works for the betterment of society (the big kahuna society, not as I defined it earlier). While it's a lovely thought, I do believe its poppycock.

Purpose IS what gets us going, what makes us feel good to do. Purpose could be your family. However, maybe not. This is where parents can go into the whole guilt thing. The love their kids and do all the right things, but they aren't completely content with that. It could be that they just need to spend time with adults (society) or it could be that to meet their purpose they need to be more involved whether its volunteer work, belonging to something like a Rotary Club that does service in the community.

Purpose doesn't need to be huge gestures. It's whatever makes you feel you are making a valid contribution to your world. It could be serving in a homeless shelter on Thanksgiving Day; it could be mentoring someone at work or helping neighbors with their needs.

Each of these three keys needs to be formed by you. Not other people, not you trying to impress or satisfy other people. Those routes are not likely to make you happy. But by you choosing your direction in life, gathering a society that you can enjoy and grow with and fulfilling a purpose as YOU define it, you produce the keys to a happy and contented life.

There is the old joke about money may not buy happiness, but I'd like to give it a try! Yet it is true. Most of us have cool things that we all want. When we get them, we are happy for the moment or so, but pretty soon there is the next thing or toy or object. It's like a drug always needing a new "fix".

As mentioned, examples of happy people abound. And they're not happy because of their "things" (if they have them) they are happy because they have direction, society and purpose in their lives. And the cool thing is, is that it doesn't cost a dime!

So look at the 3 keys to happiness.

What direction would you like your life to be headed in?

Who do you enjoy being with, what individual, group "completes" you?

What could you be doing right now that would make you feel good, a contributor, something more?

If you can work towards those answers, you won't have to be looking for happiness. It will show up before you even know it!.

'America's Got Talent' - Episode 520 - Eliminations

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The opinion that Howie gave was more than enough to prove the intensity of this TV show. The show has won the hearts of many and raked up many talents, one after another. In this particular episode, Howie said that clearly there were more than just four people, who had a quite deserving chance to proceed towards the next level. Some highlights of this episode were the Murray's tiger act and Arc attack. As the performance folded up, there was something for the rejected ones to cheer about, as there was a wild card entry, wherein some of the rejected ones may get a chance.

However, one cannot totally rule out the chance of Chipps or Mary Allen coming in, if there is a change in Howie's mind. All waited in anticipation for the results of the YouTube week as well as this week to come out. First it was Doggie Horner's, Mary Allen's and Murray's chance to react on their results. Among them, Doggie and Mary were the ones to get the boot. It was Murray, who moved to the next level. Probably, the audience made the right decision.

Among the next three contestants, that is Taylor Mathews, Da Maniacs and Lindsey Sterling, first was Taylor's chance to rejoice. From the next group of Strikers All Stars, Nu Covenant and Prince Poppycock, it was Prince Poppycock's turn to get the invitation into the next round. Now after three groups, it was the chance of the last and the final group to announce their fate. Thus, after their performances, the judges' opinion made Arc attack move ahead to the next round after much hustle and bustle. Thus, now, all those moving ahead in this contest are Debra Romer, Nathaniel Kenyon, Christina & Ali, Alice Tan Ridley, Michael Grimm, Taylor Mathews, Prince Poppycock, Studio One Young Beast Society, Haspop, Future Funk, Antonio Restivo, Murray, Jeremy, AscenDance, Fighting Gravity and Arc attack.

Danger Ahead! The Top 10 Reasons to Avoid Free Thinking Spiritual Paths Like New Thought - Or Not!

To the Spiritual Seeker:

There is an energy out there just waiting for you to bite. It has a set of tricks that look so good. They're meant to lead you out of your old belief systems. You must watch this energy closely. It can be very easy to give into its wiles. You may not ever be able to return to your old ways of thinking if you capitulate, or even just investigate. Be careful. You just may like what you find.

Ten Reasons to Avoid Progressive Spirituality:

1. They do not believe in literal devils or demons. They teach that you are responsible for your choices. Now, how can you have religion without devils? Well, you just decide to let go of that belief and recognize that there is only One Power. Nothing is fighting for your soul. Hmmmm... No devils? Don't know if I can live without devils.

2. They accept everyone-male, female, black, brown, yellow, white, gay, straight, old, young, smart, not so smart-everyone! How can you have a good church with all that diversity? I mean, you have to draw the line somewhere, right? Wasn't America founded on religious divisions?

3. They say that compassion is the way you live out your spirituality. What does that mean, exactly? Simple. Do the least harm and the most good. That's how you practice God's love in the world. (Are they serious? Not everyone is loveable. You have to judge some of them, right?)

4. They bless all the religions of the world and your right to participate in them, as long as-and here's the Catch 22-those religions practice love. I mean, one of them has to be Ultimate Truth, right? They can't ALL have merit.

5. They don't believe in eternal damnation. Well, that's just silly. There are some people who need to be punished forever. And I don't just mean the Hitlers and Saddam Husseins of the world. I also mean anyone who doesn't believe like I do. After all, MY religion is the RIGHT religion. So there! (I hope...)

6. They teach that all life is sacred, that we need to be good stewards and take care of the planet. Yeah, right! The world is going to end soon. Why should I be concerned about ozone layers and global warming and polar bears going extinct? I'm going to heaven. No such nonsense there, by golly!

7. They say that giving and receiving is one principle, that what you put forth returns to you. Perhaps, but it has to be 10% or it won't work. And it has to be to the right church. (Mine, of course.)

8. They believe that we are all interconnected, not only with each other, but with everything in the universe. Poppycock! All you have to do is look at another object to see how separate everything is. The very idea that everything is connected borders on insanity as far as I'm concerned. Right? (Now, what are atoms again?)

9. They teach that you can create your own reality, that miracles are all around you, that you can attract into your life what you really want. Not so. Only God gives out the goodies. And you have to be really good and believe the right way in order to get any of those goodies. The Devil always blocks your attempts, too. Your bad luck is his fault. (Sounds interesting, though...)

10. Finally, these progressive paths like New Thought teach that Love is the only Reality. What the heck does that mean? They say it means that nothing is outside or apart from the Creative Source. Nothing is lost. No one goes to hell. That God lives within us, around us, everywhere. Naw. God is separate, distinct, and lives way out there, far away from this sinful, depraved world. Even though he created it to be just as it is. (I think.)

There you have it. Now, I'm not saying that any of this makes any sense, but I do know that if you want to learn more about this way of life called New Thought, connect with your local Center for Spiritual Living (Religious Science) or your closest Unity Church. Also, there are a bunch of independent centers and churches as well. Start asking around. You'll find one that suits your interests.

Y'know, after researching and writing this little treatise, the progressive path doesn't sound so bad. Maybe I'll check out one of the centers this Sunday. I'll keep you posted.

But believe as you will. It's always your call.

The Best is Yet to Come and the Time Has Come

Far too many people accept the belief that once you are over 40 or 50 years old, that you are over the hill. Whereas, it is true that you will not have your youthful figure, vitality, looks, and body, but in reality your age bears no relation to which decade is the best of your life. Many people don't realize this but some of the greatest successes have been achieved by those over 50.

Did you know that Ray Kroc was 55 before he ever started to franchise McDonald's? Did you know that Colonel Sanders was 70 years old before he got his first deal to license his chicken recipe? The Golden Years, truly are Golden, and the best is yet to come. Likewise, we often tell our youth that they are too young, that they don't have enough experience, or that they have to wait their turn to succeed. This is pure poppycock.

The reality is you can do whatever you set out to do no matter what age you are. Of course, you must believe that to achieve it. No one can tell "you" that you can't do something against your will. If you choose to believe them, you are right, if you choose to defy them and go for it anyway, and give it 100% of your efforts, drive, and perseverance chances are you will succeed in spite of what everyone else says.

Over the years I've had many people tell me I couldn't do this, that, or the other thing, as I'm sure you have. Fortunately, I always had the tenacity to prove them all wrong. And I'd like to see you do the same because the best is still yet to come; and the time to start is now.

The God Enigma

As most of you now know, I like to approach some of our more difficult concepts from a slightly different perspective from time to time and since your world is so steeped in religious dogma and ancient, mostly wrong beliefs, I thought I would offer some thoughts on the God enigma. I have discussed this subject before and will do so again, hopefully inserting new information that tweaks some inner emotion within your self and helps you get a better feeling and understanding of that which cannot really be fully understood. Here is the secret that is important; the brain is limited in its ability to grasp and make sense of difficult concepts that originate outside of the physical system, but the more you subject the brain to these challenging concepts, new connections are formed and new pathways forged as the brain grows in its capacity to handle today what it could not understand yesterday. The secret is, of course, is to keep challenging the brain, feeding it new difficult to understand concepts, and eventually the brain will grow into them.

I try to stay away from discussing organized religion, simply because you are so defensive about your own religious beliefs and practices even though you may know that they are antiquated, outdated and in many ways very limiting to your spiritual growth. But, if you are ever going to understand some of the most difficult but rewarding knowledge about your universe and your God, you must understand who, what and when God is. Only a fool would presume that he understood the entire true nature of God, and in fact, no one will ever know all there is to know about the God Essence, but I will try to dance around the subject in a light hearted manner with some personal musings instead of rigid lessons about a subject that can never be fully known except by the most mature advanced and ancient entities. So lets begin with the dictionary definition of God, which can lead one astray, if not totally lost since it infers only one universe, which in turn infers only one earth and belief in a "one universe" concept alone can hinder any true understanding and growth .

"The one Supreme Being, the creator and ruler of the universe"

First and foremost, God is not in any sense of the imagination a Being and in fact, although God/All That Is the Source of all energy and all physical manifestations, He rules nothing and it is only your belief in ancient legends that you assume that God is an autocratic, angry, judging and punishing God. God is an Energy Essence Source, a knowing Prime Source of everything that is and does not know the meaning of judgement and punishment. God judges nothing and punishes no one.

You invoke God's name in a variety of ways which do not need to be included here, but God bless America, God willing, Thank God, God damn, God awful, God's will be done, God fearing people, God's chosen One, Pray to God and so on, and so on are just a few. But how many of you have ever stopped to think deeply about who or what God really is? That's a rhetorical question of course, so this article is not meant to demean or denigrate any ones beliefs, but to point you in the right direction, and as I have said many times, if I can just manage to make you become aware and make you think, then I have accomplished much of my original intent in these humble scribbles. Since any true understanding of the God concept escapes human intellect and at most levels of psychological development a true understanding must be attempted through the use of not only the intellect but through the use of inner awareness. At times it may be easier to tell you what God is not than to explain to you what He/It is. So with that in mind, it may help if I break this down into attempting to clarify by answering several pertinent questions.

What is God?
The dictionary states that God is the one Supreme Being and that is probably the most misleading statement in that God is not by any stretch of the imagination a being as you know beings, even if you are adventurous enough to include alien beings. God is an energy essence, a self aware, knowing repository of all knowledge and all experience, a creator of All That Is and all that will ever be. God is self aware, consciousness infused Energy that pervades everything, making itself known by expressing itself in as many forms as possible and if you can accept that statement, then you will know that this Energy Essence that spills out into everything could never be satisfied with the spilling out into just one paltry universe..

All energy is conscious of itself, even the smallest imaginable particle of energy is aware of its own being and is ever striving to Be known. Being is the goal, and this striving, this unimaginable desire for self expression never dissipates or diminishes and has always been the motivating force behind the first realization of self and the first breakthrough of this self aware force into the first minute physical particle. This was in a way the first miracle, the original psychic breakthrough of thought, desire and expectation into physical matter, but this miracle is as new today as it was eons ago as even now the earth and universe emerges new each moment. Some will understand the significance of this statement, some will not.

The Bible says that God always was and always will be, but energy always was and always will be and this energy that creates and permeates all universes is the essence of the Prime Energy Source that you refer to as God. I prefer the title of "All that Is" since it is less humanized and by now you all know that God is in no way human and you err when you project human type emotions or motivations on God/All That Is. Children and the less intelligent, still cling to age old tales of beginnings, endings and wrathful gods, jealous, judgmental and leaning toward eternal damnation and punishments and always appearing at the last moment to save the righteous civilizations from destruction. Those are human characteristics, and God is not human in any sense of the word. Most intelligent individuals have long known deep in their hearts that this is not the true nature of God, and have long sought knowledge that they sense exists, but do not know where to find it.

It is my intent to make known what I know, and there is much more that I don't know. The God enigma is structured so that it is constantly fragmenting itself and sending those self aware fragments (you and others like you) out into endless dimensions, re-creating itself exponentially and yet never becoming less but always increasing as it experiences everything that its fragments experience. In a remote, oversimplified way, you are a fragment of your soul, and your soul is a fragment of All That Is. In the exact same way, you create fragments of yourself in the dream universe every night when you sleep. I really don't like this analogy, but you could say that all universes, all worlds, all planes and dimensions are a VERY REAL DREAM of All That Is/God. Just as you do not consciously follow your dreaming self when you are awake, God does not consciously follow its creations either, but there is indeed not one sparrow that dies but that God is not aware.

I think most of you would agree that there is a touch of divinity in all living things, and that includes humans, flora and fauna. Here is something that you probably also sense though may not have thought about. All physical stuff, rocks, minerals, chemicals, tables, water and yes, even air you breathe has some kind of consciousness, minute as it may be in comparison to human consciousness. Everything that is, is composed of atoms and molecules and they also possess their own generalized type of consciousness. Everything that IS has been derived from and through the auspices of God and everything that is that is physically materialized, is composed of atoms which are the result of (basic energy with the intent to Be). So God/All That Is, is an energy gestalt, the prime source, the top of the energy pyramid, a divine process rather than some courtly old gentlemen. But this Prime Source knows itself not only as itself, but as all selves, all materializations and all that is not materialized (thoughts, ideas, imaginings). God has no face, but on the other hand, God is all faces. And for those slavishly following worn out dogma, God did not create mankind in His image, but mankind does create its God in their image.

Let's now talk briefly about forever. There is a duality involved here that makes much of what I want to explain so difficult to understand. There is the outer physical universe and all that it contains and there is the inner universe which is the source of its physically materialized counterpart. (That's where God can be found and cannot be found.) If you really want to understand, then you must know that nothing that exists to you outwardly would exist if it did not come from the inner incubator of all physical materializations, persons, objects and events. All OUTSIDE comes from INSIDE, and herein lies the difficulty that I must navigate through when attempting to explain concepts that are almost beyond explanation to the rational brain, but where the brain falters, the mind does not, so I talk as much to your mind as I do your brain. The INNER exists in a totally different medium than the OUTER and this is why I often use the dream universe as examples in many of our most difficult concepts. You are aware of the "Time Discrepancy" that makes itself evident in your dreams when you experience days, weeks and years in a matter of minutes. This in some important ways approximates that inner universe of the expansive present in which all things past, present and future already exist and are not touched of affected by your version of time or space.

In the expansive present, all things exist simultaneously, and the countless dimensions and planes of existence, all alien civilizations (and they are countless) are structured within this expansive present and achieve their own unique perspective of existence based on how they choose to structure and use this medium. ( Of course, the atomic structure of each world/universe must be in concert with the perception characteristics of the species doing the perceiving or nothing at all would be perceived.)

Your species chose a time/space perspective, choosing certain events and materializing them one at a time in a seemingly endless parade of events strung out over moments, hours, days, years and eons one before the other and expanding in space, growing in size and distance. But it doesn't have to be this way, it does for you of course, but it doesn't for other civilizations. Many worlds and civilizations choose to actualize and utilize multiple events at the same "time" and their consciousness is simply tuned differently than yours and is more advanced in that respect. I only mention these other civilizations, to help me explain the existence and the origin of God.

Now, you may think that it is presumptions that I would consider myself an authority on God and take on the responsibility of explaining that which we all know can never be explained, and believe me, there is much that will forever remain an enigma. We are talking here of a vast, massive intellect that has been evolving forever, sophisticated, complicated, expansive and mature beyond anything you or I can imagine. God, It, can never be adequately explained by anyone at your or my level of development, but it is better to try and understand than to sit idly in a pew listening to someone whose most stellar claim to fame is selling you holy water, prayer cloths, threatening you with eternal damnation while extorting you for money, molesting children and preaching doctrine that is so ludicrous that even as you sit and listen You KNOW deep in your heart that most of what is said is poppycock and the handiwork of charlatans and dignified con men wearing white robes and golden crowns. Expose! God herself does not own a crown or robe but is the crown and robe.

I told you up front in the beginning of these columns that I don't know everything, I don't even know much when compared to what is to be known. My information comes from other sources more evolved than myself, and it is my task to interpret this knowledge, put into words and concepts that can be more easily understood, but even then, many of these concepts are at the precipice of the cliff of the ability of the human brain to understand, but I do my best and I will not water them down for simplicities sake or to make them understandable to simple minds.

When did God begin?

I now want to attempt an answer to the question that most of you wonder about and it is the question that is the most difficult to grasp from your perspective within a "time oriented" physical system of reality such as your world. Time as you experience it is unique to your world, but is strange to other systems, some much more evolved than yours. Time and space are illusions that you must accept on your plane, but they are by no means universal. Even your universe is only "time structured" to your civilization and from your unique perspective. If you were born into a system of reality that did not recognize "time", then you would be amazed that anyone would choose to experience events one at a time, moving from present into the future and leaving already experienced events trailing behind in the past. This method of experiencing time seems perfectly normal to you so when I say that in other systems, the statement of "God always was and always will be" seems perfectly normal and would not be questioned. Only in a world of perceived beginnings and endings, cause and effect, is a formal beginning expected. Actually, the cause and the effect happen at once.

In the inner universe, the expansive present, everything exists simultaneously, yet is always increasing in psychological fulfillment and depth and is never finished. This kind of psychological expansion has nothing to do with time or space, just as the complexity and depth experience of a dream increases and expands. This kind of psychological expansion achieves duration through increasing inner fulfillment. In the same way the physical universe expands, but in actuality the physical expansion that you perceive as increasing distances, is but your perception of an inner psychological expansion in terms of inner gratifications and achievements of this universal consciousness. Bottom line, there is no such thing as real time and there is no real space, only a perception of time and space in your universe and this is actually your interpretation of psychological fulfillment and depth of inner experience.

In that respect, God is energy, and energy always was and always will be, so here we must conclude that God never had a beginning as you understand the necessity for beginnings. There was a time when an ever existing generalized energy began to become aware of itself and if you reach back far enough into your kind of time, which you must do at this "time", you could say that there was a period of original awakening when that "which always was" , this imprecise and unspecific energy, began to awaken and know itself as action and action creates identity.

Realizing its aloneness but also suspecting its vast potential, this initial action that you can call God or All That Is, knowing its need to BE, began to seek ways to further know itself through self expression and creativity. Action, energy in motion, enfolding back on itself always instigates the question, "Who am I?" and this initiates the spark of identity inherent in the answer, "I am I".

This aloneness, this original striving "to Be" provided the impetus for "realization of original identity" and expansion in multitudinous ways that we can only imagine. Finally, there is nothing inherently wrong with something existing forever if you were not been born into and slavishly indoctrinated in the time oriented system, which incidentally, is necessary for any personality in your "time system" in order to hold it's focus and manipulate in that system. Without this unyielding, intense focus on your earth time/space system, your essence would drift off into other systems and become hopeless lost

We can only touch on the tip of the iceberg in these discussions, but I will elaborate on this subject again and again as you have probably already suspected. There is only so much I can tell you at this time, but in the final analysis, the only true realization of the God Enigma must come from within. Hopefully, I can point you in the right direction. Try in remember this, when you dream, you almost totally escape the limitations of time and space, they become irrelevant. Why then would the existence of a similar but much more expansive inner universe seem so incomprehensible to you? If you only begin to get a glimpse of this endless, timeless expansive present which is the home of all worlds, realities and universes, and God itself, you can pat yourself on the back for you are beginning to peek into realities that most don't even know exist. There is much more to know.

The implications of this knowledge represents this truth; Everything that exists now, existed in the beginning in your terms. There is no new consciousness being created, only consciousness manifested in new ways. What this really means is that you, in different form existed then, but not in the same way you exist now. What you are, existed before your world was set in place and will exist even though your world may disappear and reappear as it has done before. You have always existed, but not as "self aware identity" and once that "self awareness" identity has been attained, it can never be destroyed. It will change as you will change, but it will never be diminished or destroyed.

The Spiritual and All-Inclusive Concept of Oneness

We are all one. If you incorporate this one concept into your thinking and belief process you cannot help but serve your fellow man all the rest of your days.

When I say that we are all one, I am not saying that we are all the same. We are all individuals in the sense that the three-part being that we are in the realm of this physical world is unique and distinct from all the other three-part beings that occupy this planet. We are here with the same mission, which is to experience in the physical relative world all that we know conceptually from the world of the absolute. How we do that however, is completely up to us. We are given free reign as to how we wish to proceed and what we wish to create. We don't all have the same agenda, just the same mission. How we accomplish our mission is as diverse as the number of three part beings there are on this planet at any given time. It is entirely your choice on what your agenda is. Always has been and always will be.

When you walk down the street and you see another person, you don't tell yourself that you are that other mind, body and spirit. That other person has their mind, body and spirit and you have your mind, body and spirit. They are occupying their space and you are occupying your space.

What you can say to yourself as you see a person walking down the street is that the person you are seeing is another aspect of yourself. A view of yourself from a different perspective. A different snowflake. They all look the same from the macro-perspective but they are all individual and distinct from each other in the micro-perspective. Most of us view our lives from the micro-perspective, so it's easy to fall into the paradigm that we are separate from each other. From the micro-perspective we all look as if we are separate. From the macro perspective we all look alike, we all occupy the same space and we are all doing the same thing. We are all one.

It is the concept of oneness that is going to liberate us from the shackles we are tied to by subscribing to the mentality of 'separation and fear.' We have experienced the concept of separation for over 2,000 years of recorded history and what we have observed is that the idea that we are all separate does not serve us. In fact, it does us such a disservice that if we continue down this path we are in jeopardy of rendering this planet uninhabitable for human life. That alone should give us the impetus to choose another experience, such as living in oneness.

By living in the mentality of oneness we experience true freedom instead of the limited and conditional freedom that we experience now. By eliminating the fear factor that is inherent to the idea of separateness we release the judgments and conditions that require us to restrict freedom for all for the benefit of a few.

The oneness mentality is based in love. We know the outcome of our lives is never in doubt. The love we experience in the oneness mentality is an unconditional love-based love. True love.

We are not the cause of our immersion in the separation mentality. We were born into it and have been conditioned to believe that this is the way it is and there is nothing we can do about it. The inherent fear that dominates the concept that we are separate reinforces the idea that we can't do anything about it. We are separate from each other and 'survival of the fittest ' is considered the law of the land.

We used to believe this but now we are awake and we say 'poppycock.' Because now we know how it all happens. We know we are not here to learn the lessons of life. We know that we are here to create our lives.

Create your life from the paradigm that we are all one at the highest levels of consciousness. From this perspective you will not only serve yourself but you will serve all of humanity.

Haiti Disaster - Why?

The recent earthquake disaster in Haiti was and is a tragedy of epic proportions, especially for a country that has had so much misery and devastation in its history. On the outside it seems like fate is against this small country and you might wonder why Haiti seems to be destined to endure such calamities one after another. Some clerics, misguided and befuddled ministers to the down trodden have said that Haiti brought these disasters on itself because of its pact with the devil through its beliefs in and practice of voodoo. Other radio personalities steeped in anger, suggest the American president is using this event to garner sympathy for his cause by providing aid to the Haitians.

Meanwhile the pope is doing "photo Ops" to (in his words) "demonstrate his benevolence" toward a woman who knocked him down while he was busy passing out his blessings to the multitudes. As if that right was bestowed on him by some almighty God in Heaven. Sad thing is, that many believe it, even sadder, he believes it too. Terrorists are blowing them selves up and killing thousands of innocent men, women and children indiscriminately in the name of God. Ancient witch doctors had a better understanding of true spirituality and reality than any pope resplendent in his golden crown or terrorists wrapped in their distorted idea of sanctity..

Amidst all of the misconceptions of human reality, you might be tempted to think the world is going to hell in a handbasket, so to speak. It isn't. I had planned another article for this week, but do to the total misunderstanding of these types of events in the history of the human race, I thought it might be better to clear up a few things, at least as much as possible in this allotted space. This particular subject in itself could take a whole book to explain, but then it would take a well balanced personality, exercising a healthy combination of the intellect and the intuitive characteristics in order to grasp what I will now discuss.

I am well aware that there are few who will understand these concepts without the necessary background and training, so in a way, I am not being fair with you asking you to grasp a concept that will never be understood with the intellect alone, but we must begin somewhere, so now seems to be as good a time as any. I am sure I will hear from detractors, that God punishes those who do not follow what they believe are God's laws. They will say that God punishes not only those individuals who stray from the righteous path, but punishes disobedient countries also. This is of course poppycock, only believable by those who have actual pictures of God with His long flowing beard, carrying his scale to judge you, painted on black velvet, hanging on their kitchen walls. They are so caught up in the crime and punishment dogma expounded by the uninformed that they can't get a real grip on the fact that you are right now, here and in this present moment, creating your own personal reality and contributing to the mass reality of the world.. So, now lets begin with some simple tenants that must be understood if you are ever going to understand the true reality that you create and experience.

There are interwoven fields of actuality, blending, mixing and combining. Invisible chemical reactions, activated and potent nerve impulses, electromagnetic energies impinging on these interacting fields, all natural emanations of consciousness, that eventually combine to produce something that you can all agree upon as the human Earth reality that is jointly perceived by all of humanity. In some respects, we must talk in generalities here since the reality that you all contribute to must be perceived, understood and agreed upon by all human consciousness if there is to be any complimentary awareness and continuity of the mass experience.

Your psychological specifics such as your thoughts, emotions and imaginations are then moderated, smoothed out, refined, so that they are in agreement with all people of all countries throughout the world to create the mass perceived reality. Having said that, there are separate areas, countries, towns and even families that come together to specialize in certain specific problems for the good of those involved and also the good of all humanity. There is then, a kaleidoscope of different problems being dealt with at any one time in any century in a variety of countries in your world, making up a tapestry of purposely involved consciousness working collectively for the good of all Above all, consciousness is co-operative, and that includes the consciousness of all living matter; flowers, trees, insects, animals and mankind.

Just as you have chosen your parents, your personal challenges and fields of experience before birth, you have also chosen the area or country in which you live the experience of your temporal life while in this body at this time. Many Western countries have chosen to deal with the challenges inherent in the objective advancements of industry, technologies, wealth and affluence while other less developed countries are learning the realities inherent in poverty, lacks, privation, wars, terror and political unrest. I have said many times that you choose your parents before birth, but now I also say that you choose your area (country) where you will spend at least a part of your physical life on Earth. That does not necessarily mean that you will be born in that country, but you will migrate there at the appropriate time in your life, for it is there where the most significant fertile field of experience lies that can best realize your life challenges.

Just as any competent general chooses his battlefield to face the enemy on his terms, you choose your own field of experience that offers you the best chance of success in facing your pre-selected set of difficulties, this being done, of course to facilitate your mental, emotional and physical growth. For those wondering if challenges eventually abate as you evolve through a series of reincarnational lives, the answer is NO. There is however an increasing inner knowledge that these challenges of which we speak are not thrust upon you by some outside agency or arbitrary god, but are actually created by you for your own betterment. Any lack infers a need and any need infers a problem to be dealt with, furthering creativity and upon being solved and satisfactions savored, new challenges will always emerge, no matter how evolved the personality.

You may ask, why would someone choose poverty in light of the other alternatives, but as much can be learned from lacks as from abundance, perhaps more. I will not dwell on this at this time, but it might make a good subject for discussion at another time. For the sake of the subject at hand, assume for the moment that people do choose the circumstances of their lives and in so doing, extend those challenges into families, cities, states and countries. You are probably aware the there is a commonly held belief that there exists an "Earth" consciousness and that is true, but further, there is an overall family gestalt consciousness and an overall gestalt consciousness of all such groupings including towns, villages and countries, representing the interests and proclivities of all involved in those groups.

You live in, are born into or join groups such as this because you desire the type of experience inherent in that grouping, region or country. There is no condition that is permanent, and as your goals, challenges and problems change, you will follow them to areas indicative to the particular challenge that you have chosen to deal with at that particular time of your life. For instance, if you originally chose to live in Des Moines Iowa in the United States because after a series of difficult lifetimes, you desired a life of relative tranquility, simple healthy and placid relationships, then this might be the ideal place for you to put down your roots.

On the other hand, if your interests changed so that you needed more physical confrontation with the harsh realities of life and death, the intimate confrontation with the most violent aspects of nature and the lessons that can be learned from that type of encounter, you would gravitate toward an area where those conditions are likely to prevail, like California earthquakes, Florida hurricanes, Haiti earthquakes or Bangladesh floods for example.

As I have said before, YOU create your own individual reality, but by now you should understand that YOU, meaning all of humanity, en masse, creates all of humanities reality across the globe. You create the personal events in your life. As an example, you and two other persons, each of the three creates a joint reality, agreed upon by all three parties when you join with them to create a fetus. It may seem to you that only two people are involved, but even before coitus takes place there is an inner involvement with the future fetus. This obviously infers that the incipient fetus yet to be born is also a party in this event of procreation, this impregnation is an agreement and includes the unborn infant.

I have said that identity exists before birth and after death, so you should not be surprised to learn that the fetus plays and important part in this creative act. Before birth then, the alive, but not yet physical fetus identity decides on the field of endeavor that it chooses to participate and on what levels of intensity it seeks in its next life. It chooses its parents, its future body, its foreordained handicaps, illnesses and future challenges and of course, by selecting a specific set of parents, in most cases, it has chosen by default the time and place of its birth.

You then can be assured that everyone who is alive in California, Florida and Haiti to name a few places, chose to be there and knew in advance the inherent possibilities of natural disasters. That is precisely why they are there, and by the way, I live in Florida. There is a most exhilarating experience of riding out a hurricane knowing the inherent life and death dangers involved. There is electrical energy saturating the air, and a certain magical feeling of vulnerability to the massive power of nature unleashed, yet trusting that your intuition would have alerted you if there were any real danger to you. Personally, I feel deprived when we don't experience a hurricane in a typical season. After all, its why many of us are here although most people don't realize it. Needless to say, no one likes the devastation or loss of life or limb from these natural disasters, but the satisfactions experienced from merely surviving nature unleashed is quite rewarding.

Having said that, it is a natural extrapolation to grasp that everyone in your particular village, town, city, country and continent, creates the mass reality of that particular area. Mass thoughts, emotions and expectations play just as an important part in the creation of the reality experience of "Mayberry, Ohio" as in the reality of the world. The mass reality of Haiti is created by the people that inhabit that country, and here my friends is where many of you may jump ship on me here.

I think you will acknowledge that at one time or another you have upon rising on a beautiful sunny morning, felt energized because of the sun's radiations. I know that many of you have also when rising to a storm, felt the awesome power of the lightning and thunder, but also felt a certain depression because of the dreary conditions. So, I'm trying to get you to realize that the "weather" influences your feelings and emotions, but how many would agree that your feelings and emotions actually influence the weather?

In a most real fashion, mass human emotions and feelings actually cause and influence not only the weather, but also cause other natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes. En masse then, you unknowingly perpetuate upon yourselves the very same disasters that you shake your fist the heavens and curse God or bemoan your bad luck. The weather patterns then follow the feeling and emotional patterns of entire societies projected outward into the psychic atmosphere, collecting, attracting other like feelings and coalescing into physical weather patterns. There are what you would consider normal weather currents, cycles and patterns, eruptions, floods, tsunamis and earth changes that fluctuate within the expected norms, but nature itself chooses no victims. Within those normal occurrences, dangers are sensed both by the animals and humans on a more unconscious level and those who choose not to be involved will leave the affected area beforehand not knowing the reason why.

Every last person living in Haiti at the time of the recent hurricane, inwardly knew of the impending disaster. Animals sense in advance of these impending calamities, and although you have long ago forgotten your similar abilities, these intuitive senses simply went underground in the human species and they are still operating in within your scope of sensual comprehension when you let them rise to the surface. You will find those who left the country for a variety of reasons beforehand, maybe to visit a sick grandmother and they will have no idea of the pre-cognitive information that caused them to leave. You will find those who stayed and died or suffered beyond comprehension from your standpoint, but from deep within the human psyche, each and every person knows why they chose to stay and challenge nature.

I know this is hard to understand, but not one person died in the Haiti earthquake who was not prepared to die and not one person stayed and rode the tide of natural forces and lived that did not understand inwardly that he had participated in the vast energy explosion unleashed by the creative forces of nature. It is good to remember, nature is neutral, but it is the way of nature to change, and sometimes the changes are violent, uplifting the earth or flooding the lands, but it is also good, because without the changes that nature demands, all worlds would cease to exist in a very short time. In trying to make some sense of what I am saying here, please try and remember, no one actually dies in your normal interpretation of the word "death" and everyone who was killed or buried alive in physical rocks of debris, is alive now, possibly in far better conditions that he/she was before the catastrophe. Life continues, even though you can't physically perceive that continuance from where you are today.

I will draw this article to a close in order not to alienate any further those who think some capricious, jealous, punitive God, causes natural catastrophes for some unknown purpose or reason. But in our next article I intend to point out similarities between what you call natural disasters and other calamities such as mass plagues, world wars and serious political uprisings. They all have a mental source deep within the feelings and emotions of and societies. The despair of an entire population, restrained from creativity, downtrodden and living with no hope of self expression are the seeds of upheaval, wars or floods that sweep over the land cleansing it of previous energy blockages and setting up new avenues for the free flow of creative energy and a new emerging reality.

Disasters, wars, calamities, epidemics and pestilence all have their inner meanings and are attracted to the areas that they affect. In many ways, these areas are seeking help that would not come without the unfortunate events. We will talk about these at another time

Remember this: Non physical psychic characteristics such as FEELINGS, EMOTIONS, IDEAS AND IMAGINATION are expressed in the physical world as CLIMATE and WEATHER. Under normal conditions, you might consider them benevolent and usually beneficial, but when fueled by continuing hate, anger, starvation or political repression they cause psychic energy upheavals of these normally passive fluctuations and can cause havoc and devastation on the physical landscape in whatever form they take. In the overall picture, all movement of energy is action and there is no bad action. Action is neutral, even though it may affect some more intimately than others.
